BIO 329: Immunology & Immune Mediated Disease

Class Program
Credits 4

This course explores the physiological strategies animals use to survive and thrive in diverse and often extreme environments. With evolution as a unifying theme, students will investigate both the general principles of animal physiology and exceptions to these rules. Topics include energy metabolism, cellular communication, temperature regulation, gas exchange, water and osmotic balance, and reproduction. Emphasis is placed on structure/function relationships across tissues, organs, and organ systems, as well as physiological adaptations in invertebrate and vertebrate species. A $50 lab fee is charged.
