This course prepares teacher candidates to design, implement, and assess effective social studies and science instruction in elementary classrooms. Emphasis is placed on inquiry-based learning, disciplinary literacy, and the integration of content knowledge with developmentally appropriate pedagogy. Teacher candidates develop lesson and unit plans that promote critical thinking, civic engagement, and scientific inquiry while supporting diverse learners in inclusive classroom settings. Literacy components such as comprehension, vocabulary, and writing will also be integrated with content instruction. Discipline specific faculty will share the teaching load.
