This introductory course that is split into three distinct units (plant anatomy, physiology, and ecology) presents an integrative overview of plants as living systems, emphasizing how anatomical structures support physiological processes and ecological interactions. Students will explore internal plant organization, mechanisms that regulate growth and metabolism, and how plants interact with biotic and abiotic environments across scales; from individual cells to ecosystems. Through lectures, field demonstrations, primary literature, and case studies, students will build a working understanding of plants as dynamic organisms, without a focus on taxonomy or species identification.
